Cloud, DevOps & Infrastructure

Architecture, pipelines, and observability that make deployment routine - plus the cost visibility that stops a cloud bill from becoming a surprise.

The problem

Deployment fear is the most expensive problem nobody budgets for

When releasing is risky, teams release less often. Changes pile up, each deployment carries more of them, and the next failure is harder to diagnose because so much moved at once. The root cause is usually a manual pipeline, infrastructure that exists only in someone's memory of the console, and no way to see what the system is doing in production.

Cloud spend follows the same pattern. Without ownership and visibility, costs accumulate in idle environments, oversized instances, and storage nobody remembers creating - and the first real review happens only after finance asks a question.

Our approach

Make the boring path the safe path

We define infrastructure as code so environments are reproducible and reviewable, and so staging genuinely resembles production. A change to infrastructure goes through the same review as a change to the application.

The deployment pipeline runs the same steps for every release - build, test, scan, deploy, verify - with rollback as a first-class operation rather than an improvisation. The goal is deployments so unremarkable that nobody schedules them for Friday evening.

Observability comes before scale work. Structured logs, traces, and a small set of meaningful alerts tied to user-visible symptoms rather than machine metrics, so on-call wakes someone when something is actually wrong. Only then do we tune for performance and cost, because optimizing without measurement is guesswork.

Capabilities

What this service covers

Individual capabilities are scoped per engagement - this is the range we work across, not a list every project includes.
  • Cloud architecture and migration
  • AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud solutions
  • CI/CD pipeline implementation
  • Infrastructure as code
  • Docker and containerisation
  • Kubernetes where the workload justifies it
  • Application monitoring and observability
  • Scalability and reliability improvements
  • Cloud cost optimization
  • Deployment automation

Deliverables

What you actually receive

Illustrative artifacts from a typical engagement. The exact set is agreed during discovery and written into the statement of work.
  1. 01

    Architecture diagram and decisions

The topology you actually run, with the trade-offs recorded - including the services we chose not to use.

  2. 02

    Infrastructure as code

Reproducible environments in version control, with a review process for infrastructure changes.

  3. 03

    Deployment pipeline

Automated build, test, scan, deploy, and verified rollback - identical across every environment.

  4. 04

    Observability baseline

Structured logging, tracing, dashboards, and alerts tied to user-visible symptoms with documented runbooks.

  5. 05

    Cost review

Current spend attributed by service and environment, with a prioritized list of reductions and their risk.

Engagement

How a project in this area runs

Tailored to this service rather than a generic four-box process diagram.
  1. 01

    Assessment

Current topology, deployment process, failure history, and spend - documented as it is, not as it was intended.

  2. 02

    Pipeline and environments

Infrastructure as code plus an automated pipeline, proven first on a low-risk service.

  3. 03

    Observability and reliability

Logging, tracing, dashboards, meaningful alerts, and runbooks for the failures most likely to occur.

  4. 04

    Optimise and transfer

Performance and cost work driven by the new measurements, then training so your team owns it.

Questions

What clients ask about Cloud, DevOps & Infrastructure

Do we need Kubernetes?

Probably not. Most teams we meet are better served by managed container services or a platform-as-a-service, which remove the operational burden Kubernetes adds. It earns its complexity at genuine multi-service scale with a team to operate it - and we will tell you when you are not there yet.

Which cloud should we use?

Usually the one your team already knows, unless a specific requirement points elsewhere. The operational cost of an unfamiliar platform outweighs most pricing differences at small and mid scale. Where multi-cloud is a stated requirement, we design for portability at the boundaries rather than across the whole stack.

Can you reduce our cloud bill?

Often substantially, and the early wins are usually idle environments, oversized instances, and forgotten storage. We will not quote a percentage before seeing your account, because any number given in advance would be invented.

Will you migrate us with downtime?

The plan is always a staged migration with a tested rollback and, where the architecture allows, parallel running before cutover. Some legacy systems make a brief maintenance window the honest option - if so, we say that during planning rather than on the night.
