Cloud Business Management System
The problem
What this kind of product has to solve
Growing businesses outgrow their spreadsheets in a specific order: first stock accuracy, then order status, then the reconciliation between what was sold, picked, shipped, and invoiced. Each gap gets patched manually until the patching becomes someone's full-time job.
Packaged ERP systems address this but frequently fit the business only approximately, and the remaining ten percent - the part that is actually distinctive - ends up back in spreadsheets alongside the new license cost.
The solution concept
How we built it
This concept build demonstrates an operations backbone built around append-only events. Stock levels and order states are derived from an immutable event history rather than updated in place, so any figure can be explained by replaying how it was reached.
Reconciliation is a feature rather than a monthly ritual. Discrepancies between expected and actual are detected automatically and routed to an exception queue with context, so staff review the genuine problems instead of checking everything.
Infrastructure is defined as code with a deployment pipeline from the first week, because an operations system that cannot be safely changed becomes the next legacy constraint. Integrations are idempotent, since the same supplier file will eventually arrive twice.
Engineering decisions
The choices that actually determine whether it works
- 01
Event-sourced inventory
Append-only movements with derived levels. A discrepancy becomes an investigable history rather than an unexplainable number.
- 02
Reconciliation and exception queues built in
Mismatches are detected and assigned rather than discovered at month end, which is what keeps the manual patching from returning.
- 03
Idempotent integration boundaries
Every inbound file and webhook carries a key and can be safely replayed. Duplicate processing is the most common data-integrity failure in this category.
- 04
Infrastructure as code from week one
Reproducible environments and an automated pipeline, so the system stays changeable as the business changes.
Intended business value
What this is designed to achieve
- Intended to replace manual reconciliation with exception review, so staff attention goes to genuine discrepancies rather than routine checking.
- Designed so that every operational number is explainable from its history, which is what makes an operations system trustworthy enough to act on.
- Built to remain changeable - reproducible infrastructure and a real deployment pipeline - so it does not become the constraint it was built to remove.
No outcome figures are shown because this is a concept build with no client deployment behind it. Quoting a percentage here would be fabrication, so we quote nothing.
