Financial Services & Fintech

Systems where correctness is not negotiable, reconciliation is a first-class feature, and every number must be traceable.

Context

What the work looks like here

Financial software is judged on correctness before experience. A rounding error, a duplicated transaction, or a race condition in a balance update is not a bug to be triaged next sprint - it is a reconciliation problem that spreads.

The engineering discipline that follows is specific: immutable records rather than mutable balances, idempotent operations, explicit handling of partial failure, and the ability to explain any number by replaying how it was produced.

Constraints that shape the build

These are engineering decisions we make by default in this sector, before anyone asks for them.

  • Append-only records with derived balances, never destructive updates
  • Idempotency on every externally triggered operation
  • Decimal arithmetic for money - never floating point
  • Documented data retention, and least-privilege access by default

Problems we solve

Where technology makes a measurable difference

Not an exhaustive list - these are the recurring problems where software reliably repays the investment in this sector.
Problem 01

Reconciliation done by hand every month

Automated reconciliation with exception queues, so people review the handful of genuine discrepancies instead of checking everything.

Problem 02

Onboarding that loses applicants midway

Redesigned onboarding and verification flows that save progress, explain requirements before asking, and recover from provider failures.

Problem 03

Reporting assembled from exports

Data pipelines with tested definitions and lineage, so regulatory and management reporting is reproducible rather than reconstructed.

Problem 04

Integrations that fail silently

Robust provider integration with idempotency, retry semantics, and alerting on the specific failure modes that matter.

Typical work

What we are usually asked to build

  • Ledger and reconciliation tooling
  • Onboarding and identity verification flows
  • Reporting automation with auditable lineage
  • Payment and banking provider integrations
  • Operations consoles for finance and support teams
  • Security reviews of authorization and data access
