Education & Learning Platforms

Learning products used by people with a wide range of devices, abilities, and connectivity - where accessibility is a requirement, not a feature.

Context

What the work looks like here

Education platforms serve the widest device and ability range of any sector we work in. Shared computers, old phones, assistive technology, slow connections, and institutional browser policies are all normal conditions rather than edge cases.

They also carry obligations: accessibility is frequently a legal requirement in education, and the data involves minors or student records with specific handling rules.

Constraints that shape the build

These are engineering decisions we make by default in this sector, before anyone asks for them.

  • WCAG 2.2 AA as a baseline requirement, verified by keyboard and screen-reader testing
  • Works on low-end devices, high zoom, and constrained networks
  • Student data minimized, with retention and access documented
  • Analytics designed to support teaching, not to surveil learners

Problems we solve

Where technology makes a measurable difference

Not an exhaustive list - these are the recurring problems where software reliably repays the investment in this sector.
Problem 01

Platforms that exclude some learners

Accessibility remediation to WCAG 2.2 AA, covering keyboard operation, screen readers, captioning paths, and interfaces that work at high zoom.

Problem 02

Course delivery that breaks on poor connections

Resilient content delivery with progressive loading, resumable media, and state that survives a dropped connection.

Problem 03

Assessment that is easy to game or hard to grade

Assessment tooling balancing integrity against practicality, with grading workflows that reduce instructor load honestly.

Problem 04

No early signal on struggling learners

Progress analytics that highlight disengagement while intervention is still useful, designed to inform teaching rather than rank students.

Typical work

What we are usually asked to build

  • Learning and course delivery platforms
  • Assessment and grading tools
  • Student, instructor, and administrator portals
  • Accessibility audits and remediation
  • Progress and engagement analytics
  • Integration with student information systems
